Cut the nozzle tip on a tube of color matched vinyl. It ll better match the house than brand new siding. Pull siding away from house and cut through the bottom edge with aviation snips. Use a siding zip tool available at home centers to unlock the damaged siding at the bottom.

Use your utility knife or shears to cut a scrap piece of siding several inches longer than the opening. These small repairs can add years to the life of the siding. Use framing square and utility knife to cut through face of siding. Place the piece over the hole to make sure it fits and curves correctly.

Scrape away any excess with the putty knife when you re done and allow it to air dry. Squirt the caulk into the hole so it fills the area behind the siding until it sticks out just a little from the front of the hole. Allow it to cure for several days or as recommended on the caulk packaging. Nail holes in aluminum and vinyl siding are tough to repair without replacing the entire piece but a squirt of color matched caulk from a siding supplier will solve the problem for a lot less money and aggravation.

Holes dents and other damage to siding can usually be fixed quickly and inexpensively. Fill the siding holes with wood filler. Place foil tape on the back side of the siding to cover the hole and lock the siding back in place. Clean the siding around the hole with vinyl siding cleaner or mild dish detergent and water and a soft sponge.

A hole or tear in your siding requires a little more effort to repair. Fill the hole with a thin coat of color matched caulking or paint the caulking to match the siding color as described above. A new generation of wood fillers hardeners and epoxies fill holes and firm up soft spots so they are as strong as the original wood. Cut the top and bottom edges so you re left with a flat piece of siding that curves on the top and bottom.

Cut piece of faded siding from an inconspicuous spot to replace the damaged section. Use a putty knife to force the filler inside the hole making sure to fill in the hole and to completely cover the opening. Use siding cleaner to clean the area around the hole. Fill in the hole with a tinted caulk that matches your siding or opt for a paintable version.
